Mr. Howard Ellis Kernodle, 85, of Efland, passed away on Friday May 26, 2017 at the Hospice Home of Burlington. A naïve of Orange County, NC, he was the son of the late Robert Otis and Daisy Bell Pickett Kernodle. Howard was a proud veteran of the US ARMY, serving in the Korean War. After his time in the service, he went to work with Whites Furniture Company in Mebane which he retired from with 45 years of service. Howard was an avid outdoorsman as he loved to farm, fish, deer and rabbit hunt, but most importantly, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many. Survivors include his children, Junior Kernodle (Rhonda) and Wanda Roberson (George); daughter in law, Diane Cook Kernodle; grandchildren, Michael Riley (Tiffany), Anthony Riley, Jamie Riley, Chris Riley, Heather Ivey (Jason), Allison New (Justin), Missy Thompson (Jason Cook), Ashely Kirby, Amanda Shue, and Ashley Shue; 16 great grandchildren; sister, Mildred Carmichael (JE), and many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Alma Modlin Kernodle; son, Barry Kernodle; grandchildren, Lynn Kernodle and Joshua Denton; 2 great grandchildren; and brothers and sisters, Georgie Carmichael, Annalee Moore, Paul Kernodle, James Kernodle, and Luther Kernodle. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday June 1, 2017 at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Mebane with the Pastor Jim Florence officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM on Wednesday May 31, 2017 at the McClure Funeral Home in Mebane.
