Hubbard Garlen Spencer

August 28, 1916 — July 7, 2015

Mr. Hubbard G. Spencer,98, passed away at his residence on Tuesday July 7th, 2015. He was retired from Western Electric after 28 years of employment, a life long New York Yankee fan, and a dedicated family man. Hubbard was the oldest member of Glen Hope Baptist Church, having been a member for over 62 years. He is survived by his daughters: Elizabeth Bradley, Sylvia Seawell, and Cynthia Burrell; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and son-in- law: A.D. Isley. He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years: Maggie W. Spencer; daughter: Marian Isley; parents: James and Fannie Spencer; sister: Fannie Hurst; brother: Rufus M. Spencer; and son-in-law: John Seawell. The family will receive friends on Thursday July 9th from 6-8 at McClure Funeral Service in Graham and other times at the residence. A service will be conducted on Friday July 10th at 11:00 at Glen Hope Baptist Church with burial to follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Larry Redding. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to his caregivers, Lynne Wheeley and Frankie Adams, for all of their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: Glen Hope Baptist Church, 911 North Ave., Burlington, NC 27217 or to a charity of your choice.
