Irene Higginbotham Bradshaw was born on November 8, 1939, in Crummies Creek, WV and entered the arms of her Savior on April 26, 2024, in Mebane, NC. She lived her life well and loved God and her family fiercely. She is survived by her 4 children: Rebecca (Mike) from Newport News, VA, Stephen (Norma) from Telford, PA, Sarah (Terry) from Oshkosh, Wisconsin and Daniel (Margaret) from Hillsborough, NC. In addition, Irene has 2 surviving brothers, Paul Higginbotham from Newton, WV, and Burl Higginbotham, from Daleville, VA. She also has 12 beloved grandchildren and 11 precious great-grandchildren. Irene was preceded in death by her loving husband, Eugene Bradshaw, her parents, Hollis and Greta Higginbotham, and her brother Richard Higginbotham. Irene trusted Jesus as her Savior as a young girl on Crummies Creek. After working her first job as a secretary, Irene spent her life as a wife who chose to care for her children and manage all things at home. She was always there for her family when needed. At one time, Irene began mending for a local cleaner to help with her family’s college bills and other needs. She seasoned her mothering with truths from Scripture, but until her last days, she continued to love her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She always looked forward to seeing them and prayed for them faithfully. She was fantastic at creating a southern style meal, and her house was always kept meticulously clean. She was a list maker, and very organized, keeping track of her many grandchildren and great grandchildren’s birthdays and anniversaries. She lovingly cared for her husband when he could not care for himself for several years. Irene and Eugene were able to celebrate their 50th anniversary surrounded by family before Eugene took his journey to Heaven. In her most recent years, Irene loved working her puzzles and watching the birds outside her window. We all are thankful for the mother and friend that God gave to us. She was our treasure and we will miss her deeply, but we know we will see her again one day.
