Irene Smith Martin

Irene Martin, 94, passed away on Wednesday December 11, 2019 at the Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell.  She was born in Toccoa, Ga. to the late William and Nora Smith and raised in Anderson, SC.  She was a member of Church of God of Prophecy in Graham where she taught Sunday School for many years. She loved her church.  Irene also belonged to the Haw River Senior Citizens Club.

She is survived by her daughter, Nearldean Pierce of Haw River, grandsons; Kenny and Kerry Pierce of Haw River, sister; Margaret Tollison of Anderson, SC., and a daughter in-law Jackie Martin of Haw River.

Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her siblings, Pauline Paxton, Buford Smith, Roy Smith, Frances Medlin, Evelyn Gentry, William Smith, Melvin Smith and Lady McQuire.

A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Sunday December 15, 2019 in the McClure Funeral Chapel in Graham.  The family will receive friends from 12-2 prior to the service on Sunday at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in Haw River Cemetery.
