Irene Lewis Shields

Irene Lewis Shields 100, of Mebane passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at the Authora Care Collective Hospice Care in Burlington. Irene was born in Alamance County to Edward “Ed” Lewis and Nanny Westbrooks Lewis both deceased. Irene was a retired sewer in textiles.

Irene was a strong willed woman who loved everybody and would help anybody in need.

She loved to craft, sew and was very talented at it.

Irene is survived by her daughter, Carolyn S. Craddock and her husband Jerry. Her son, Leon Shields and his wife Glenda. Grandchildren, Donnalynn Brody and her husband Stephen, Amanda Chatman and her husband Lamar, and Chris Barrow and his wife April.

Six Great Grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at 3:00 PM in Oakwood Cemetery in Mebane. Officiating will be Rev. Scott London

McClure Funeral Home in Mebane in service the Shields family.
