Ishamell Bronell Mills, Jr., “Junior”, 82, went home to be with The Lord on Sunday, February 27, 2022. He was a native of Alamance County, a place he lovingly called home his entire life. He was the son of the late Ishamell Bronell Mills, Sr. and Clara Holt Mills. Junior was a graduate of E. M. Holt High School, Class of 1957, where he played football and was President of his Freshman Class. He went on to attend Elon College for two years and Technical Institute of Alamance (TIA) for two years. Junior married the love of his life, Delores, in 1960 and they were married for 61 years. He founded multiple companies throughout his career including United Sprinkler Co., Inc. where he was President and Owner since 1967. He held an unlimited Fire Sprinkler Contractors License, Utilities License, Class “A” Plumbing License, and unlimited General Contractors License. He was a Past Master of the Thomas M. Holt Masonic Lodge #492 and attended The Lamb’s Chapel. In his spare time, he was interested in so many things and enjoyed many hobbies including woodworking and metalworking projects. He also loved antique cars and being involved in the restoration process. He took pride in growing muscadine grapes to make wine and jelly and enjoyed sharing with family and friends. Junior will be remembered as a very genuine, loyal and generous person with a passion for many things in life, but none surpassed the love he had for his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his youngest daughter, Janet Mills McPherson.
He is survived by his loving wife, Delores Linville Mills, daughter, Lori Mills, son, Brad Mills (Karen), five grandchildren, Wil Woodard, Caitlin Woodard McDevitt (Jordan), Cody Mills, Amber McPherson, and Lacy Mills. He is also survived by his brother, William B. Mills (Kay), and sister, Wanda Coggins (Walter). He was also looking forward to the birth of his first great-grandchild in July.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM on Tuesday March 8, 2022 at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham with the Pastor Mike Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until service time at the funeral home on Tuesday.
