Jabe Guthrie Hunter

Mr. Jabe Guthrie Hunter, 66, of Mebane, NC, passed away on Tuesday June 7, 2016 at the Hospice and Palliative Care Center in Burlington. A native of Alamance County, NC, he was the son of the late Chester and Elsie Guthrie Hunter. He was a member of Crossroads Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon and Church Elder. Jabe was the owner and operator of Amick Motor Company after the retirement of his father in law. he was also an avid golfer and most definitely TAR HEEL fan. Survivors include his wife, Jo Anne Amick Hunter, of the home; his children, Jabe Hunter II. and wife Aggie, of Mebane, Mattie Hunter, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Joseph Hunter, of Mebane and his four loving grandchildren, Victoria Elizabeth Hunter, Andrew Jabe Hunter, Sofie Ann Ezzell and Amerie Skye Hunter; sisters, Becky Coleman and husband Larry, of Graham, Hannah Clapp and husband Gerald, of Gibsonville and Janice Hunter, of Graham, and many loving nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Jane Thacker and Molly Carden; brothers, Eddie Hunter and Carl Lee Hunter. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday June 10, 2016 at the Crossroads Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Marcia W. Jaureguizar and Rev. Willie Teague officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 PM on Thursday June 9, 2016 at the McClure Funeral Home in Mebane and other times at the residence of the family.
