Mr. Jack Cecil "J.C." Willis 87, of Mebane, NC passed away on Thursday October 27, 2022 at his residence. Jack was born in Caswell County, NC on February 17, 1935 to the late Johnnie Bob Willis and Glennie Phillips Willis. Jack retired from Cone Mills in 1992 with 35 years of service as a Finishing Manager. Following retirement Jack was a farmer and worked in the carpentry trade as he could build or fix anything. Jack was a member of Eastside Baptist Church where he enjoyed volunteering at the Church, especially in the Church kitchen and the Church Choir. Jack had a special love and talent for making his famous sausage which everyone around town would try to get their hands on. He was an avid outdoorsman, as he had a love for hunting and fishing all around. In his earlier years he was a member of Stoney Creek Hunting Club where he ran his coon dogs and had received numerous awards and trophies for his accomplishments in hunting but his happy place was just hunting or fishing with his buddies. Over the years Jack raised cattle and farmed the land and would rather just do everything himself, but nothing put a smile on his face like teaching his grandchildren. He was proud to be able to teach his grandsons how to hunt, fish, and his love for Jesus and Jack would always say “I was a sinner saved by grace”. He is survived by his daughters, Crystal Johnson and husband Donald of Mebane, Sheila Voshell and husband Jim of Anderson, SC; a son in law, Marc Garner of Mebane; grandchildren, Jason Carver, Jackie Carver, Matt Garner and wife Heather, Ashley Scott and husband John; great grandchildren, Cody, Caleb, Kirsten, Zach, Jaxson, Nick, Tyler, Tommy, Noah, Ava, Brystal, Charlee, JC, Isabella and AJ; great great grandchildren, Brynley, Caleb, Jr., Kaiden and Mazilyn, and Kloe; sisters, Lois Carver and Jean Oakes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Margaret Lunsford Willis and his loving daughter, Denise Garner; sister, Aleena Neighbors and a brother Robert Willis. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday October 30, 2022 at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Mebane with the Pastor Chuck Perkins officiating. Burial will follow alongside his late wife Margaret in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Sunday, and other times at the residence of the family.
