Jack Metcalf, Sr.

Mr. Jack Edward Metcalf, Sr., 68, of Mebane died February 26, 2017 at home. Born April 22, 1948 in Anne Arundel, MD, Jack was the son of Norman Edward Metcalf and Metta Mae Crumpacker Metcalf. He graduated from Durham (NC) High School, and Durham Technical College. Jack worked in cost accounting and retired from Duke University following over 40 years of service. An avid fan, he loved Duke basketball. He was an active member of Lebanon United Methodist Church in Mebane, where he served as church treasurer for 25 years. Survivors include his mother, Meta Mae Metcalf of Durham; his wife, Sandra Faye Metcalf of the home; sons, Scott Metcalf of Mebane, Jack Metcalf, Jr. of Charlotte and Keny Metcalf of the home; and three grandchildren, Austin, Ethan and Lila. In addition to his father, Jack was predeceased by a son, Jimmy; and a brother. Kirk. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Lebanon United Methodist Church, with pastors Jack Colenda, Ray Teague and Johnny Wright presiding. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 6 – 8 pm Tuesday at McClure Funeral Home in Mebane.
