James Linwood Briggs

Mr. James Linwood Briggs, 81, of Mebane, NC, passed away on Saturday December 30, 2017 at his residence. A native of Person County, NC, he was the son of the late James Floyd Briggs and Esther Richardson Briggs Workman. James was retired from Elastic Fabrics of America in Greensboro and he attended the Lamb’s Chapel in Haw River. He was an avid golfer, loving to play anytime he got the chance and was a huge North Carolina Tar Heel fan. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Barbara Chambers Briggs, of the home; his boys, James Douglas Briggs and wife Lori, of Gibsonville and James Michael Briggs and Fiancé Marites McGee, of Mebane; grandchildren, Shane Dewoody, of Haw River and Rachel Ann McGee, of Mebane; great grandchildren, James Lucas Briggs, of Mebane and Madi Dewoody, of Haw River; brother, Archie L. Briggs and wife Brenda, of Mebane and many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his little brother and his loving sisters. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday January 3, 2018 at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Mebane with the Pastor Timothy R. Hunnicutt officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery in Burlington. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM on Tuesday January 2, 2018 at the McClure Funeral Home in Mebane.
