Mr. James Edward “Smitty” Smith, 84, of Mebane, NC, passed away on Monday January 30, 2017 at his residence. A native of Columbus, GA, he was the son of the late Autry and Inez Herron Smith. He was the founder and owner of S&S Auto trim in Burlington that was established in 1965. He was a proud veteran of the US Army and he loved to cut up and joke around with his family and friends. He enjoyed traveling out west to places like Montana and surrounding areas. His love and joy were his grandchildren and great grandchildren as they always put a smile on his face. Survivors include his daughter, Wanda Webster and husband Gerry, of Mebane; son Ray Smith, of Mebane; grandchildren, Chrystal and Gary Smithey, April Webster, David Smith, Tiffany and Brian Massey, Kristen and Taylor Rogister, and Allie and Isaac Euliss; great grandchildren, Chandler Webster, Zane Webster and Gavin Smithey; siblings, Viron and Donald Killingsworth, Mickey and Percy Shaw, Gene “Joe” Autry and Alice Smith, Curtis and Eloise Smith, Winnie Glover, Dwayne and Becky Smith; special friend, Elsie Paschal and his loving nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Scoggins Smith; son Myirl Murl “Junior” Smith Jr. and brother, Cooter Smith. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday February 4, 2017 at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham with the Pastor Ernie Keck officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 PM prior on Saturday February 4, 2017 at the McClure Funeral Home in Graham.
