April 25, 1955 — April 23, 2026

Burlington

James Erven Davis Jr., known affectionately as Jimmy, passed away on April 23, 2026, at his residence in Burlington, North Carolina, one day shy of his 71st birthday. He was born on April 25, 1955, and lived a life marked by devotion to his family, dedication to his work, and a quiet strength that touched all who knew him. Jimmy was a loving husband to Virginia Rogers Davis and a proud and devoted father. He is survived by his sons, Eric Davis and his wife Amanda, Tyler Davis and his wife Lauren, and Gene Riggan and his partner Jerri Vance. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Henri, Reese, Maverick, Gracin Davis, Karsyn, and Kayla Doby, who brought him immeasurable joy throughout his life. He is also survived by his sister, Sandra Davis, his brother, Johnny Davis, and many other loving family members who will forever hold his memory close. He was preceded in death by his parents, James E. Davis Sr. and Cora Lee Blackstock Davis, as well as his sister, Elizabeth Hall. Their memory remained an important part of his life, and he carried the values they instilled in him with dignity and pride. Jimmy retired after 25 years of service with Builders Firstsource, where he was known as a dependable and hardworking employee. During his years there, he received numerous safety awards, a reflection of the care, discipline, and commitment he brought to his work each day. He took pride in doing his job well and earned the respect of coworkers and friends through his steady example and strong work ethic. He was also a proud veteran of the United States Army, and his service to his country was a source of honor throughout his life. The discipline and sense of responsibility he carried from his military service were evident in the way he lived, worked, and cared for those around him. Jimmy found peace and happiness outdoors. Whether he was playing golf, hunting, or fishing, he enjoyed the solitude and simple pleasure those moments provided. He appreciated the beauty of nature and the calm it brought him. Above all else, he loved his family deeply, and nothing brought a bigger smile to his face than time spent with his grandchildren. Their presence filled his heart with joy, and his love for them was evident to everyone who knew him.
