James Robert Matthewson Gregory

Mr. James Robert Matthewson Gregory 57, of Burlington, NC passed away on November 28, 2024, at the Alamance Regional Medical Center. Born in California, he was the son of the late Arthur Gregory and Shirley “Kay” Hurlocker Tucker. Jimmy loved music and was known for his musical ear as he could play any song by just hearing it once. He could play saxophone, the bass, and many other instruments but his favorite and most skilled was the guitar. He collected coins and enjoyed fishing, especially when he would go pier fishing in Myrtle Beach. Jimmy loved watching old westerns and always embraced the “Cowboy Lifestyle.” Jimmy knew everything about guns which he enjoyed shooting for fun. He never hunted as his love for animals was too strong and you would always see him with a dog. Jimmy attended Westside Fellowship Church and was a proud veteran of the US Navy. Survivors include his loving daughter, Gracie Gregory and Fiancé Mason Grindall; his loving Fiancé, Barbara Dunleavy; stepchildren, Taylor Clemmons and wife Anna and Jeanie Deaton and husband Christopher; a sister, Mayor Jennifer Talley and Husband Chuck, his brother, Joseph Gregory and many other loving half siblings. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepmother, Fran Gregory and a stepfather, Luther Tucker. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 AM on Sunday December 8, 2024, at the Graham Cinema in downtown Graham.
