MEBANE - Mr. James McClendon Rice age 90, of Mebane, NC died Sunday September 22, 2013 at the Presbyterian Home of Hawfields. He was born in Orange County and was retired owner of Rice's Jewelry in Mebane and of the Baptist faith.Surviving are two sons Jerry Rice and wife Carolyn of Gibsonville, Tommy Rice and wife Cindy of Mebane, four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, one brother Joseph "Joe" Rice and wife Avis of Mebane, and special friend Ella Mae Green.Preceeding him in death was his wife Thelma Barber Rice, parents Leroy and Lydia Patterson Rice, son Clarence Rice, brothers Coy Rice and Melvin Rice, sisters Dollie Briggs, Lottie Huey, Pearl Hodge and Margaret Rice.A Service of Celebration for the life of James M. Rice will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, September 24, 2013 in the McClure Funeral Home Chapel 1308 South Third Street, Mebane, NC with the Pastor Walter Jones officiating.
