MEBANE - Mr. James Edward Starnes Sr., 70, of 701 Fairway Drive, died Sunday, April 13, 2014, at his residence. Born in Rowan County, N.C., he was the son of the late Edward Nelson Starnes and Elsie Wooley Starnes and was retired from the United States Army.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by granddaughter, Brittney Starnes; and sister, Elaine Boggs.Surviving him are his wife, Judy Tilley Starnes, of the home; sons, Jay Starnes and wife Jamie of Mebane, James Edward Starnes Jr. of Cocoa Beach, Fla., Donald Jeffrey Starnes of Harker Heights, Texas and Johnathan Lee Starnes of Qualicum Beach, Vancouver; brothers, Luke Starnes of Charlotte, Jerry King of Burlington, Jimmy King of Virginia; grandchildren, Bailee, Dustin and Alyssa Starnes, Lee Mosbey and Ellie Starnes, of Canada.There will be a time of gathering and remembrance for the family and friends on Thursday, April 17, 2014, from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. at the McClure Funeral Home, 1308 South Third Street, Mebane, N.C. and at other times at the residence.The family requests that memorial donations be made to the "Wounded Warrior Project," P.O.
