James "J.T." Thomas Caviness

Mr. James "J.T." Caviness, 79, passed away at his residence Monday, Aug. 11, 2014. J.T. was retired after being employed at Western Electric with over 30 years of service. He was also a handyman, assisting in many different jobs. He was a volunteer with the Telephone Pioneers of America for many years. J.T. enjoyed flounder gigging at the coast as well as playing pool in many local facilities. J.T. served in the U.S. Army. He was of the Christian faith. He is survived by his spouse, Barbara V. Caviness; sons, Michael Caviness and wife Susan, and Robert Caviness; grandchildren, Andrew Caviness, Justin Caviness, Lauren Caviness and Kimberly Caviness; brothers, Carl Andrew Caviness Jr. and Billee Everett Caviness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Andrew Caviness Sr. and Jewel Johnson Caviness. A service will be conducted Saturday, Aug. 16. 2014, at 4 p.m. in the McClure Funeral Chapel in Graham with Mr. Rowen Grant officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 until 4 p.m. prior to the service at McClure Funeral Service.
