James "Jim" William Traughber Sr., 74, of Alamance County, North Carolina, passed away on November 22, 2025. Never one to sit still, he lived a full life right up to the end.

Born in Kern County, California, on April 29, 1951, to the late Lyn and Joan Traughber, Jim learned early on how to make his own way. He was a tough, self-made man who wasn't afraid of hard work. He was the owner and operator of Jim's Tires in San Bernardino, CA, and also ran a successful drywall business. Jim knew how to get things done and earned respect for his straightforward, no-nonsense approach. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Dave and Ray Traughber.

Jim had a wild side. In his younger years, he loved to race cars, even building one himself. He never lost his love for hitting the road, whether traveling by car or motorcycle. Jim enjoyed sharing rides with his family, his biker brotherhood, and especially his grandson, Brandon. Jim was a natural-born storyteller and a bit of a jokester. He had a gruff exterior, but once you got him talking, he could hold a room captive with his stories and humor.

A man of faith, Jim was a member of the Lamb's Chapel. He found a strong community there, and his belief was a quiet, steady part of his life.

He leaves behind his wife of 25 years, Jo Hayes Traughber. Jim was the head of a large and blended family, and he loved them all fiercely. He is survived by his children: Troy Shaw (Stephanie), James W. "Jimmy" Traughber Jr., Kris Traughber, Monica Gusimat (Desmond), Sherisse Hurlburt, Billy Traughber (Karie), Tommy Traughber, and Missy Enriquez (Alfonso). He is also survived by his stepson, Adam Shaw (Brenda). Being a grandpa and great-grandpa brought him immense joy. He will also be missed by his niece and nephews.

Jim Traughber was one of a kind. He was a provider, a character, and he showed up. He was a man who loved his family deeply. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, good stories, and a lot of love. He will be deeply missed.

Services will be announced at a later date.
