James Franklin Turlington, passed away peacefully in the home, on December 9, 2024, at the age of 88. Born on September 5, 1936, to the late James Woodrow Turlington and Letha Jordan, James's life was one marked by generosity, dedication, and love. He was a family man who loved his children and grandchildren. He also loved drag racing and playing golf with his friends.
James is survived by his loving wife, Ellen Turlington, who has been his steadfast partner in life's journey. Together, they raised two wonderful children, James Anthony "Andy" Turlington of Haw River, NC, and Renee Turlington Dix of Mebane, NC. James was a proud brother to Linwood Turlington of Augusta, GA, and Ann Strickland of Clinton, NC. His legacy continues through his adored grandchildren, Emily Turlington, Brittany Evans and her husband Joe, and Zachary Dix, as well as his great-grandchildren, Aden Loy, Maverick and Maxton Evans, who brought him immense joy in his later years. After honorably serving in the US Army, James embarked on a career as a supervisor for Cone Mills in the Corduroy Department for 24 years, then went on to be a truck driver for Triad Masonry, where he was known for his strong work ethic and amiable nature. His colleagues respected him for his reliability and his willingness to lend a helping hand whenever needed.
A funeral service will be held at 1pm on Thursday, December 12, 2024 in the McClure Funeral Chapel in Graham with Pastor Darrell Moser officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral on Thursday from 12pm-1pm prior to the service.
The family of James Franklin Turlington wishes to express their sincere gratitude to everyone for the many acts of kindness shown to them during their time of loss. Special appreciation to the EMS, first responders, care givers, doctors and nurses who assisted us.
