James Wade Wicker

Mr. James “Jim” W. Wicker, 75, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 6, 2015, at Hospice Home & Palliative Care Alamance-Caswell. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend to all. Jim was a retired journalist with over 40 years of service to Durham Herald Sun, Greensboro News & Record, and Burlington Times News. He is survived by his wife of 41 years: Carole Wicker of the home; daughter: Jennifer Ebert of Greenwood, S.C. ; stepdaughter: Roberta Wall of Greensboro, NC; son: James Mahlon Wicker of San Francisco, CA; stepsons: Jeffrey Cook of Lumberton, NC & David Cook of Hawaii. He was preceded in death by parents: Francis Wicker & Mary Shilling. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday December 9th at 1:00 at Historic Providence Church in Graham. Officiating will be Rev. Darryl Peebles and Rev. Dr. Dace A. Lewis Jr.. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday December 8th from 6 to 8 pm at McClure Funeral & Cremation Service in Graham.
