Jane Navy LuQuire, devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, passed away on July 28, 2025 at the age of 90.
Jane was born on April 17, 1935 in Lincolnton, NC to parents Daniel Bloomington Navy and Myrtle Stallings Navy. One of 5 children, she was raised in Montgomery County, NC and graduated from Biscoe High School where she was a cheerleader and played women’s basketball. After graduation she attended Pfeiffer College. Jane married the love of her life, Max LuQuire, in 1956 and they shared 69 years of a happy marriage until his death in February of this year.
Jane had a strong faith in Christ and was very involved in church activities and ministries at First Baptist Church in Altavista, VA, Tabernacle Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC and First Baptist Church in Biscoe, NC. She was also a 69 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was instrumental in starting a Chapter in Altavista, VA, now known as Appomattox Chapter #10. Jane was so thoughtful and cared deeply for others. This was often expressed in baking her delicious pound cakes for them.
Jane was sweet, fun loving, and full of energy. She enjoyed sewing, drawing/art and cheering on her beloved UNC Tarheels. But more than anything, she enjoyed spending time with Max, her family and grandchildren, who fondly called her “Gran Gran.” They will have precious memories of the time spent with her baking, climbing trees, having “tea parties,” and dancing and singing to “I Love You a Bushel and a Peck.”
Jane was preceded in death by her loving husband, Max, her older sisters, Elizabeth “Lib” Barrett and Dorothy “Dot” Paschal. She is survived by her 2 daughters, Melissa Brant (Gary) of Mebane, NC, Laura Wrenn (Jordan) of Wake Forest, NC, brothers Bill Navy and Steve Navy, both of Charlotte, NC and grandchildren Meredith Lineback (BJ), Matthew Brant (Ashley), Katy Brant (Chris Norris), Sarah Jane Wrenn, and Will Wrenn; great-grandchildren Dawson, Chandler, Naiomi, Xander, Payton, Leah, McKinley and Lawson.
Jane will be remembered as a wonderful and devoted daughter, wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. She was often described as kind, a loving soul, one of a kind, special, fun and favorite. What blessed traits!
We would like to offer a special thank you to Homeplace of Burlington and AuthoraCare Hospice Services. The staff went above and beyond to make her feel welcome, cared for and loved.
