Mrs. Janet King Hughes, 81, of Burlington died November 24, 2016 at the Hospice Home in Burlington. Born May 3, 1935 in Alamance County, Janet was the daughter of the late Rev. Luther Melvin King and Pearl Elizabeth Johnson King. She enjoyed her work as a homemaker, but had also been employed in both the textile industry as well as healthcare as a nursing assistant. Janet was a member of Faith Christian Church, which currently meets in the facilities of Shiloh Presbyterian Church, 2638 Grand Oaks Blvd. in Burlington. She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Sandra Dixon Payne (Eddie) of Gibsonville; sons and daughter in law, Bobby Lee Dixon of Snow Camp and John Keith Dixon (Carol) of Burlington; step-daughter, Janice Hughes Moon of Mebane; step-son, Robert Michael Hughes of Oregon; 5 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren; and brothers, Rev. Clyde “Bo” King of Haw River, Rev. David King and Harold Douglas King, both of Burlington. The service for Mrs. Janet Hughes will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham, with Pastor Reid Dickens and Elder Brian Payne presiding. Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 2:45 pm Sunday at the funeral home; and, after the service at her residence on Scott Street in Burlington.
