Janet Lewis

April 9, 1948 — February 20, 2026

Janet T. Lewis, 77, of Mebane, NC, passed away surrounded by family on Friday, February 20th 2026 at 8:35pm. She can now rest peacefully after battling a strong battle with health problems. She showed us what a beautifully strong and courageous woman she was in life and through her battle with her sickness.

Janet T. Lewis was born and raised in Alamance County, NC, to Robert Henry Trollinger and Lucy Bason Trollinger. She was one of four children of their loving home. Grace Laverne Bingham (Ellis), Ira Trollinger (Nancy), Garry Trollinger (Maridell).

She leaves behind two daughters, Wendy L. Howard (Clinton) and Cynthia Lewis. She also leaves behind 3 loving grandchildren, Caleb Howard (Ashlyn), Victoria Howard, and Maylei Lewis. Also leaving behind a sweet, loving great grandchild Conor Howard (Caleb and Ashlyn).

She leaves behind her two brothers Ira Trollinger (Nancy) and Garry Trollinger (Maridell). Also leaving behind many loving nephews and nieces.

She was proceeded in death by her father Robert Henry Trollinger, mother Lucy Bason Trollinger, her loving husband John Henry Lewis, and sister Laverne Bingham (Ellis).

We have lost a truly beautiful and loving spirited woman. She had the most loving, kind and giving heart. Anyone who knew her knew that she exemplified kindness and love because that was what the Lord laid in her heart and she will forever be remembered for her beautiful loving spirit. She was an amazing and loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She always wanted to take care of others and always put herself on the back burner to make sure all she loved was taken care of first. She always wanted to make sure everyone was healthy, happy, and safe. Her family was her pride and joy and her grandchildren were the light of her life. She loved to spoil her babies.

Her and dad took their wedding vows to heart and took care of each other for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish till death did them part. An absolute beautiful example for their family.

She worked in the telephone business as an accountant for most of her career and took early retirement from it with great happiness to help take care of her grandchildren. She enjoyed every minute she got to spend with them and spoil them.

She loved life, her family, and home more than anything in this world! She was a truly blessed woman and she knew it and paid it forward every chance she got.

She will truly be missed by her family and friends and everyone that got the chance to meet her loving spirit!! Mama we are going to miss you more than you will ever know, we all love you with all of our hearts forever and always!!
