Jean Ross

Jean Monnett Ross of Graham NC, passed away on the evening of September 17, 2026. She was born on February 21, 1936 to Charles Guy and Hazel Lee Monnett. She graduated from Women’s College in Greensboro (UNCG) as a secretary and worked at Odell Hardware, Monnett Carpet Shop (her father’s business) and Mebane Lumber. Jean was a devoted follower of Christ and served faithfully at Glen Hope Baptist Church as a teacher for the GA girls, leading crafts at Vacation Bible School and head of the Property Committee for many years to mention a few.

Jean’s greatest accomplishment and joy was raising her 3 children, James Edward “Eddie” Ross Jr (April), Tanya Ross Judd and Taryn Ross Duncan (Brian).

Spoiling her 8 grandchildren Nathan Ross, Noah Ross, Mya Ross, Carly Judd, Ross Judd (Jasyanna), Corbin Duncan, Gavin Duncan and Lily Jean Duncan kept her young and gave her life deep joy. Her 2 great granddaughters, Milani and Iris Judd brought an exceptional bright light as they accompanied their mom, Jasyanna, to care for Mimi each day. Jean spent lots of time and attention feeding into the lives of her many nieces and nephews.

Jean was immensely talented and creative, kind and generous to a fault. She loved gardening, shopping (especially Tjmaxx) and interior decorating. Jeans greatest gift was as an encourager and friend. You would often find her in deep conversation on her cell phone with the home phone ringing- she paused to answer and not miss a call! Jean was an artist and often painted pictures to give to friends and as an encouragement to those during difficult times. A beautiful soul who sent hundreds of cards expressing her support and love to those in her life. Jean was a steady prayer warrior and a shining light.

Visitation will be held at Glen Hope Baptist Church on Friday, September 25th from 5:30 to 8 pm and celebration of life on Saturday, September 26 at 11 am.  Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park.
