Jeanette Amick Armour

Mrs. Jeanette Amick Armour, 74, of Mebane, died April 30, 2017 at Duke Medical Center in Durham. Born January 11, 1943 in Mebane, she was a daughter of George Crawford and Josephine Sellars Amick, who preceded her in death. Jeanette was a graduate of Elon College, and taught elementary school grades throughout her career. A pastor’s wife, she was an active volunteer. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in New Bern, where she resided for several years before relocating to Mebane. Jeanette enjoyed the beach, was an avid reader, and loved to cook. Surviving are her son, daughter-in-law and grandson, Randy, Dana and Ryan Armour of Cary; sister, JoAnne Hunter of Mebane; sister-in-law, Marjorie E. Shipley of Chicago; several nieces, nephews and great-nieces. In addition to her parents, Jeanette was predeceased by her husband Clifford A. Armour, Jr., and a brother, George Crawford Amick, Jr. The service to celebrate Mrs. Armour’s life will be held at 11 am Friday, May 5, 2017 at Crossroads Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Willie Teague presiding. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 10 – 10:45 am Friday at the church.
