Jennifer Heather Helms

Jennifer (Jenny) Heather Helms, 50, passed away on June 7, 2024, at Moses Cone Hospital.

Jenny was born in Lauderhill, Florida on April 1, 1974.  She grew up in Lauderhill and Miami, Florida; Danville and Louisville, Kentucky; and Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.  She was the oldest of four children and spent her childhood spreading her spirit and boundless energy to everyone around her.

In 1996, Jenny graduated cum laude from Penn State University and she remained a fan of the Nittany Lions through good times and bad.  Shortly after graduation, Jenny relocated with her family to Greensboro and started her career at Wachovia.

In 1998, she married David Sar and soon became the mother of two beautiful little girls who were their mother’s pride and joy.  Catherine is presently studying at the Medical University of South Carolina Dental School, and Lauren is a rising senior at Duke University.

Jenny is survived by her daughters, Catherine Kesler (Bennett) of Charleston, South Carolina; Lauren Sar of Durham; her parents, James T. Helms, Jr., and Terrina C. Helms of Greensboro; her siblings, Ryan J. Helms, of Toronto, Canada; Shelley H. Southerland (Jeff) of Greensboro; Dr. Christy Sherrill (Jonathan) of Asheville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She will also be missed by friends and important people in her life, including Rudy Lazides, Siler City.

Though she left us far too young, Jenny loved Jesus, and as she battled through difficult times, she sought comfort in Him, remembering His faithfulness. Jenny’s family rests in the assurance that she is now fully healed, that she is brightening the streets of Heaven, and that we will all meet her again before too long.

A graveside service will be held on June 15, 2024,10:00 a.m. at Hebron Community Church in Mebane.
