Jerry Harold Pace

Mr. Jerry H. Pace, of Graham, NC, passed away on Monday November 20, 2017 at the Peak Resources of Alamance. A native of Lauderdale County, Mississippi, he was the son of the late Harold and Sarah Hand Pace. He was retired from the US ARMY with 30 years of service, serving during the Vietnam War and holding the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. After his active duty in Vietnam, he was in the ARMY Reserve and had done service in Acquisition Corps in Fort Monmouth, NJ for his two weeks every year in Reserves. Mr. Pace served as a Deacon in three churches. He was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Raleigh. He was ordained as a Southern Baptist Minister in the 1980’s receiving his degree from Southwestern University. He also received a degree from Auburn University in Texas for his Masters in Human Relations and Management as well as a degree from the University of Louisiana at Monroe for Bachelors of Science in Physics and Math. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Shirle Holder Pace; daughter, Sherl Bradshaw and husband Tommy; sons, Jerrold Pace and wife Crystal and Jeremy Pace; grandchildren, Maggie and Tucker Pace; sister, Annette Alexander and husband Bobby and a loving niece and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday November 26, 2017 at the Old Mt. Vernon Baptist Church 11600 Durant Rd. Raleigh, NC with the family receiving friends on hour prior to the service at the Old Church as well as from 3 until 5 PM on Saturday November 25, 2017 at the McClure Funeral Home in Graham. Burial will follow the service in the Church Cemetery with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church at 7600 Falls of Neuse Rd. Raleigh, NC 27615.
