Jerry C. Reed

LAKELAND, Fla. - Jerry C. Reed, 64, was born March 2, 1949 in Burlington, N.C. and passed away June 2, 2013 at Tampa General Hospital due to respiratory failure. Jerry served in the U.S. military in Thailand. He worked for MBM Food Services as a transportation manager. Jerry also worked with Food Lion as a Transportation Manager for 19 years before being a Vice President of Transportation with Jitney Jungle Stores of America in Jackson, Miss. He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 43 years, Barbara Searcy Reed; brother, Malcolm and wife Pam; mother-in-law, Velna Searcy; sisters-in-law, Sherrill S. Gerringer and Tammy S. Wall and husband Ron; brother-in-law, Gary Searcy and wife Patty; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Ersula Belch Reed; and father-in-law, Vernon Searcy. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2013 in the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Officiating will be the Rev. Daryl Peebles and the Rev. Darrell Cox. McClure Funeral Home in Graham is in charge of arrangements.
