Jerry Lee Travis

EFLAND – Jerry Lee Travis, 82, of Efland, North Carolina passed away peacefully on July 2, 2023 at the Hock Family Pavilion-Duke Hospice Home in Durham, NC. He was born on October 15, 1940 in Rutherford College, North Carolina to the late Mary Haith Travis and the late Earl Franklin Travis. Jerry was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joyce Clark Travis.

Jerry is survived by his children; Jimmy Travis (Donna) of Efland, Carolyn Travis McDonald (Paul) of Efland, sisters: Sylvia Slaughter (Jimmie) and Peggy James of Mebane. Grandchildren: Amanda Travis of Morrisville, Katie Travis (Randall Benton) of Graham, Tyler McDonald (Lindsey) of Mebane and Ashley McDonald of Efland.

Jerry retired from Burlington Industries in May 2003 where worked as a dye machine operator. He was a devoted and loving husband and father. Jerry never met a stranger and loved to share stories. He loved to garden and work outside. One of his favorite things was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023, at 1:00pm at McClure Funeral Home, 1308 South 3rd Street, Mebane, NC, followed by the funeral service at 2:00pm in the Chapel. Burial following at the Lebanon United Methodist Church Cemetery, 6101 Lebanon Road, Mebane, NC.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
