Jesse Gilbert Swift III

Jesse Gilbert Swift III, 88 yrs, of Hillsborough, NC passed away on July 8, 2026. He was a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, and his presence will be deeply missed.

Born in Cambridge, MA on August 9, 1937, Gil loved to tell stories of his time at Trinity Camp in New Hampshire, playing ball with his dog Scamp, and social mischief at Belmont Hill. However, the joy of Gil's life began at Lawrence College in Appleton, WI, where he met his future wife, Susan Princelle Daniels. He treasured their nearly 62 years of memories and matrimony, as well as building a family and community of friends.

Gil began his career in higher education administration at Lawrence University. He worked in Admissions both there and at Carroll University in Waukesha, WI. He finished his career as Director of Alumni & Development at Butler University in Indianapolis, IN.

Beginning as a young boy, Gil loved sports. He enjoyed playing and coaching hockey, but he would watch almost any sport. Most notably, Gil was known as a devout Green Bay Packers, Boston Red Sox, and Carolina Hurricanes fan.

In addition to his parents, Gil was predeceased by his wife and brother, Charles Sr. Left behind to cherish his memory are his children, Sallie Leary; Dan Swift and his wife, Kris; and Sandi Green and her husband, David. He also leaves his grandchildren: Katie, Sam, Jonathan, Noah, Mykah, and Jaryn. He will be greatly missed.
