Jimmy Garland Lunsford

Jimmy Garland Lunsford, 80,passed away on Friday, January 10, 2025 at his home in Mebane. Born in Person County, he was the son of the late Edward Thomas Lunsford and Dorothy Mae Oakley Lunsford. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Coy Lunsford. Mr. Lunsford was a member of  Lea Bethel Baptist Church.

Mr. Lunsford retired from GE after 35 years of service. He was a man of little words, but he had a big heart. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He would often visit his brothers and help out on their farms when they needed him. He enjoyed meeting friends for breakfast at numerous restaurants in Mebane. He chose his breakfast spot based on which one had the biggest crowd of friends present. He had an interest in coin collecting and he also loved to find a good “deal” when shopping. If it was on sale, he was likely to buy it! He liked to stock up on anything he might need later or that he could share with family and friends. He will always be remembered for his generous and kind spirit.

Surviving is his son, Mark Lunsford and his grandson, Justin Britt, both of the home. He also leaves behind his best friend and mother of his son, Carolyn Lunsford of Mebane. He is survived by three brothers: Ronnie Lunsford (Helen), Carl Lunsford, and Garry Lunsford (Debra) all of Prospect Hill: two sisters: Corina Moize (Lawrence) of Hurdle Mills, and Katie Stephens (Rickey) of Alabama, and his sister-in-law, Peggy Lunsford of Prospect Hill. He will also be missed by numerous nieces and nephews.

A service to honor of Mr. Lunsford’s life will be held Wednesday, January 15,2025 at 2:00 pm at Lea Bethel Baptist Church in Prospect Hill with Rev. Dave Cline and Rev. Bobby Tate officiating. The family will welcome friends in the fellowship hall after the service.

Pallbearers will be Joe Oakes, Michael Lunsford, Ben Solomon, Matt Solomon, Ron Willis, Bo Tate and Tyler Scott.
