Jo Anne Parish

Jo Anne Schnekser Parish, 57, of Mebane, NC died October 23, 2016 at Duke University Medical Center in Durham. Born in Fort Sumter, SC on September 15, 1959, she was a daughter of Frank Michael Schnekser and Elaine Cannon Schnekser. Jo loved animals and had raised and trained wild horses. She enjoyed sports, especially softball and camping. She also enjoyed trips to both the beach and mountains. Jo was the family “glue”, always there for her kids, she made sure they all got together at least once a year. She moved to NC in January, 2016. Prior to that, she lived in New Mexico for 23 years, in both Santa Fe and Albuquerque, where she was an administrative law judge for the Corrections Department. Since moving here, Jo attended Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Graham, NC. Survivors include her husband, Parker Parish; sons, Sam Parish of Goldsboro, NC, Parker Parish of Austin, TX, Jordan Parish of Albuquerque, NM, and Riley Parish of San Antonio, TX; daughter, Kayla Parish of Mebane; 6 grandchildren; brother, Mike Schnekser of Chesapeake, VA; sisters, Maria Markel of Dillon, CO, Jolie Will of Sequim, WA, and Karen Cwynar of Blane, WA; and her mother-in-law, Jo Ann Parish of Albuquerque, NM. A memorial mass will be offered at 11:00 am, Friday, October 28, 2016 from Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with Rev. Brian Cullinane, OFM, Conv. presiding. Interment will be held privately on Saturday. Friends may visit with the family on Friday from 10 – 10:45 am at the church.
