MEBANE - Joan Buckner Marie Gregg, 64, of 308 Grove Hall Lane, passed away peacefully after a long journey with cancer, surrounded by family and friends at Hock Family Pavilion, Durham, N.C., Sunday, June 15, 2014, at 2:05 p.m. The daughter of the late Paul Samuel Buckner and Gladys Watson Buckner, Joan is survived by her husband, Henry "Scott" Gregg III, of the home; daughters, Stephanie Gregg of Alaska and Lisa Fuqua of Burlington; grandchildren, Brittany Kirby of Balsam Grove, N.C. and Johnny Fuqua of Burlington, N.C.; great-grandchild, Dixie Fuqua of Virginia; sisters, Phyllis Bowes (Neal) of Leasburg, N.C., Priscilla Weaver of Saxapahaw, N.C. and Brenda Compton of Burlington, N.C.; brother, Paul Buckner (Deborah) of Burlington, N.C. In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by brothers, Ricky Buckner and Robert Buckner.A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 19, 2014, at Epworth United Methodist Church in Durham, N.C., with the Rev. Laura Wittmont and the Rev. Davon Harrelson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the church and at other times at the residence. Burial will follow in Cooper Cemetery in Prospect Hill.
