John Campbell of Saxonburg, Pennsylvania was born on 9/13/1938 in Sewickley, PA. He graduated from Ambridge High School. John attended Geneva College and became a piping designer. He worked for Salvucci Engineers in Pittsburgh and General Dynamic Electric Boat working on nuclear submarines in Groton, Connecticut. He was in the Army Reserves.

He loved watching Pittsburgh sports- Steelers, Pirates, Penguins and Pitt and traveling to see them in different cities. John enjoyed running, hiking/camping with his friends, deer hunting, collecting guns, going to local breweries, eating NC BBQ and fish sandwiches and put “ketchup on everything”. He loved exercising his many pets including dogs, cats, and hermit crabs. He traveled on cruises to Russia and the Caribbean, Delaware beaches, and many trips to Disney.

John bought a house near his daughter in Mebane, NC in 2019 so he could escape the cold PA winters. He enjoyed teasing his grandchildren and watching them play sports including soccer, dance, and golf. John recently vacationed around NC going to the Outer Banks, Topsail Island, Bald Head Island, Wilmington and Asheville. He attended many North Carolina sporting events to see Pitt football play NC State, UNC and Duke, watched the Penguins play the Carolina Hurricanes, and went with his daughter to a Pitt vs Duke basketball game at Cameron Indoor.

John is preceded in death by his mother, father and sister. He is survived by his wife Cheryl Campbell, daughter Kristin (Ben) Titus, and grandchildren Xavier and Violet. Burial at St. James Cemetery, Sewickley PA. Arrangements by McClure Funeral Service, Mebane, NC. A celebration of life is planned for summer 2026.
