Rev. John "Buddy" F. Skenes Jr.

The Lord has opened his arms once again to say “Well done my good and faithful servant.” Uncle Buddy Skenes, 84, of Burlington passed away on December 6, 2015 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. He was retired from the United States Air Force and Lorillard. Since 1973 he was the preacher at Vickers Memorial Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Lena Wade Skenes, daughters; Shirley Skenes, Marie Terrell (Harvey), Terrie Iniguez (Ron), Diane Collins (Bill), Virginia Penny (Thomas), Rhiana Skenes and Shelly Skenes, sons; John “Butch” Skenes III (Christy) and Charlie Riggs (Susanne), a brother, Rev. Bill Skenes and a slew of grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mildred York Skenes, sisters; Marie Cameron, Virginia Honeycutt, Kathleen Perry, Lucy Simpson, Mildred Roten and Shelby Hill, brothers; Richard Skenes and George Skenes. The family will receive from 5-7pm on Wednesday December 9, 2015 at Vickers Memorial Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held at the church on Thursday December 10, 2015 at 2:00pm with the Rev. Bill Skenes officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org/
