John "Jay" Burroughs Evans III rode his heavenly Harley to God on August 29, 2026, after a brief illness at the age of 61, in Burlington, North Carolina.
Jay was born February 14, 1965, in Alamance County to John "Buster" Burroughs Evans Jr. and Jeanette Anthony Evans.
Jay enjoyed working on his motorcycles, strumming his guitar, fishing at Lake Michael and Graham-Mebane Lake tournaments, loving on his dogs—Foxy, Mini, and Bear—and being his soft-spoken and strong-willed self.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Jeanette Anthony Evans, and father, John "Buster" Burroughs Evans Jr. He is survived by his children, Chase Evans (and husband Brenden DiBerardino) and Jake Evans (and partner Betty Ann Ashby). Jay's legacy also lives on through his grandson, Jeice Evans. Jay is survived by his sisters, Angie King (and husband Leonard King), Lisa Maynard (and late husband Ken Maynard), and Sharmee Snow (and husband Randy Snow), as well as a large host of nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Jay will be held on Tuesday, September 1st, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. His funeral will be held the next day, Wednesday, September 2nd, at 11:00 a.m. Both services will take place at McClure Funeral 1030 South Main Street, Graham, North Carolina 27253. Followed by a burial at Oakwood Cemetery.
