John Hamblen Payne, 87, of Mebane passed away on August 27, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.  He was the son of the late John and Martha Lillian Payne.  He graduated from Mebane High School and attended Elon College.  John was a member of Mebane United Methodist Church and worked as the print shop supervisor for Burlington Industries for 53 years. He is survived by his son, Johnny Payne (Luanne) of Mebane; daughter, Susan Blaylock (Roy) of Mebane; grandchildren, Landon Payne (Amber), Taylor Blaylock and Jacob Payne (fiancé, Claire Shannon) all of Mebane; great grandchildren, Jonesy Payne and Lyla Payne; brother in law, James Boone (Diane) of Burlington and a nephew, Todd Boone of Burlington.  Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Carol Boone Payne.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday August 30, 2022 from 6-8 at McClure Funeral Service in Mebane.  The funeral service will be held at 2pm on August 31, 2022 at Mebane United Methodist Church.   Burial will follow in Hawfields Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to AuthoraCare Hospice at 914 Chapel Hill Rd. Burlington, NC 27215.
