John Wesley Sims

Mr. John Wesley Sims, 78, of 3217 East NC HWY 54, Graham, NC, passed away at 7:19 AM on Saturday May 10, 2014 at his residence. He was a native of Lincoln County, KY and was the son of the late Willard H. and Artie Slone Sims. Mr. Sims was a veteran of the US ARMY serving in the Korean Conflict and was a member of Christian Life Assembly Church in Gibsonville. He was known for being a family man, always having a love for his family whether they were gone or still here with us and he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many. Surviving is his wife, Barbara Cross “Marie” Sims, of the home; daughter, Gale Sutton and husband Albert, of Whitsett; sons, Wesley Ray Sims, of Florida, and Jimmie Allen Sims and wife Tammy, of Elon; grandsons, Jonathan and Tyler Sutton, Jessica Cartwright, Hunter Sims; 3 great grandsons; sisters, Eva Jackson, of Union City, IN, Wavie Winkle and husband Oscar, of Saratoga, IN, and Shirley Cross and husband Don, of Haw River; many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Lanceford and Junior Sims, and sisters, Geneva Davis, Francis Elliott, and Elizabeth Heitkamp. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 on Monday May 12, 2014 at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham with the Rev. Bruce Ritter officiating. Burial will follow in Graham Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until service time prior on Monday at McClure Funeral Home in Graham, and other times at the residence of the family.
