BURLINGTON - John Durward Walters, 75, of Burlington, passed away on October 31, 2013.He was born on May 5, 1938, in Orange County to his late parents, Hildred Fuquay Walters and Joseph Coleman Walters. John attended Prospect Hill High School. He married Jeanette Walters on July 4, 1959. He was a member of Kinnett Memorial Baptist Church of Burlington.John worked and retired from Rental Towel and Uniform. John operated a racing souvenir business at Ace Speedway, Orange County Speedway and Piedmont Dragway. He was an avid fan of local racing and NASCAR. He enjoyed working on cars and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed spending time with his beloved dog, T-Bo.John was survived by his wife, Jeanette Walters; three sisters, Barbara Pittard, Evelyn Payne, and Rachel Foushee and husband Curtis; two children, Steve Walters and wife Linda; daughter Stephanie Walters; two grandchildren, Marcus Walters and wife Andrea, and Nicholas Walters and wife Natalie; great-granddaughter, Emily Walters.In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his two brothers, James Walters and Joseph Walters.A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 3, 2013, at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham with the Rev. Don Pegg and the Rev. Steve Joyner officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 until 3 p.m. prior to the service on Sunday at McClure Funeral Home and other times at the residence of the family.
