Joseph "Joe" Daniel King

Mr. Joseph Daniel “Joe” King, 83, of 5263 Mount Vernon Church Rd., passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday August 15, 2014 at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the son of the late James William and Minnie Lloyd Oakley King. A native of Caswell County, he was a retired mail carrier for 45 years as well as a farmer. He was a member of Union Ridge Church where he served as a Church Deacon as well as Superintendent of Sunday School and was the official Bell Ringer at the Church. He was a veteran of the US ARMY, serving in the Korean War as a Military Policeman. Survivors include his wife 60 years, Juanita Cobb King, of the home; granddaughter, Melissa ‘Missy” Logan and husband Dennis, of Burlington; grandson, Evan King and wife Candice, of Burlington; great grandchildren, Brienna King and Emersyn King; sisters, Dollie Mae King Garrison, of Yanceyville, and Mamie Sue King Harris and husband Wilbert, of Mebane; brother, Billy King and wife Lib, of Burlington. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Randy King. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 on Tuesday August 19, 2014 at the Union Ridge Church in Burlington with the Rev. Dan Ficklin and the Rev. James L. Rosser officiating. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM on Monday August 18, 2014 at the McClure Funeral Home in Graham, and other times at the residence of the family. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice and Palliative care Center of Alamance/Caswell at 918 Chapel Hill Rd.
