Josephine Lashley Nicks

GRAHAM - Josephine Lashley Nicks, who was born Aug. 23, 1913, went home to be with the Lord on July 7, 2013. She was 99 years old, presently at The Presbyterian Home of Hawfields. She was one of the eldest members of Glen Hope Baptist Church. She loved fishing, gardening and cooking for her family. Josephine was the daughter of the late Thomas P. Lashley and Minnie Greeson Lashley. Survivors include her son, Freeman Nicks (Sylvia), of Graham; sister, Lucille Roberson; Pat Allen, who was like a second daughter; five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, who will all miss her dearly. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Freeman Nicks; son, Glen Nicks; daughter, Jonell Nicks; four brothers; and three sisters. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday July 9, 2013, in the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service. At other times, they will be at the residence of Freeman Nicks, 2114 Lacy Holt Road in Graham. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Alamance-Caswell, 918 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215, or to Glen Hope Baptist Church, 911 North Ave., Burlington, NC 27217.
