Joyce Sims Barba

Joyce Sims Barba, 68, of Mebane, NC, passed away on Thursday June 8, 2017 at the Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington. A native of Louisa County, VA, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Lettie Hall Cozart. She was retired from Alamance Community College as second in command in security for numerous years. She was also a proud graduate of Alamance Community College receiving her degree in Criminal Justice. She loved to read and spend time with her grandchildren but most of all she was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all. Surviving are her daughters, Janice Mitchell and husband Larry, of Mebane and Paula Namola, of VA; son, Jerry Sims and wife Ashley, of Mebane; grandchildren, Jimmy Strader, Cody Strader, Larry “Little Larry” Mitchell, Afton Ryan, Jordan Sims, Tana Sims, Ethan Mitchell, Ashlyn Williams, Haley Mitchell, Jerry “Bubba” Sims; great grandson, Liam Mitchell; sister, Doris Harper, of VA; brother, Henry Frank Harper and wife Tina, of VA and many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Joe “Dicky” Harper and Mack Harper. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday June 12, 2017 at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Mebane with the Pastor Tommy Marley Officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the McClure Funeral Home in Mebane.
