Mrs. Joyce Ann Matkins Collins, 83, of Mebane, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday January 19, 2017 at Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington. A native of Danville, VA in Pennsylvania County, VA, she was the daughter of the late Allie Thomas and Myrtle Mae Pruitt Matkins. She had retired from Dan River Mills with 33 years of service. She was a member of Ferry Road Friends Church in Danville, VA, where she served as the Church Treasurer, sang in the Church Choir, and was a Past President of the Friend’s Missionary Society. She enjoyed watching television and in her younger days, she enjoyed bowling and playing volleyball. Her love and joy was her family especially when it came to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was known for her wonderful ability to cook and her collection of tea pots she treasured so much. Survivors include her daughter, Brenda C. Wall and husband Jeff, of Knightdale, NC; son, Charles “Chuck” Collins Jr. and wife Denise, of Efland; grandchildren, Neal Collins and wife Crystal, of Raleigh, Justin Wall and Fiancé Ashley Alger, of Clayton, Chris Collins and Fiancé Sarah Goodwin, of Dillwyn, VA, Jared Wall and wife Alyssa, of Farmersville, CA, Shanna Collins, of Efland and Noah Collins, of Efland; great grandchildren, Addison Perry, of Clayton, Easton Wall, of Clayton, and Mason Wall, of Farmersville, CA; sister, Patricia Killian and husband Boyd, of Belmont, NC; brothers, John Matkins and wife Marilyn, of St. Louis, MI and Wayne Matkins and wife Peggy, of Little River, SC and she was loved by all of her nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Charles Collins Sr. and a Sister, Margie Hilderbran. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday January 24, 2017 at the Chestnut Ridge United Methodist Church with the Pastor Pam Gilliam and Dr. Eddie Moody Officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM on Monday January 23, 2017 at the McClure Funeral Home in Mebane and other times at the residence of the family in Mebane. Flowers are welcome, as well as, memorials that may be made to the Chestnut Ridge UMC Memorial Association Fund at 3505 Chestnut Ridge Church Rd, Efland, NC 27243.
