Snow Camp

Juanita McKinney Braxton, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025, at the age of 95. Born on December 11, 1929, to the late Stephen and Ruby Della Smith McKinney, Juanita's life was a testament to the power of faith, family, and friendship.

Juanita's journey began in a small town where she was the beloved sister to her brothers Doyle, Harold, Wallace, and Stephen McKinney, all of whom preceded her in passing. Her early years were filled with the warmth of a close-knit family and the joys of a community that valued togetherness.

In her youth, Juanita's radiant smile and kind heart caught the eye of the late Calvin Braxton, the love of her life.  They were married for 50 years.  Their union was blessed with two children, son, Wayne Braxton and his wife Nancy and daughter, Janice Braxton, who in turn gave her the joy of becoming a grandmother to five grandchildren, Sheri Braxton Whittington, Donald Rickert, Travis Rickert, Braxton Rickert and Dustin Rickert, and a great-grandmother to eight great-grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Her family was her pride and joy, and she nurtured each relationship with the same tenderness and care that she had received as a child.

Juanita's love extended beyond her family to her church family at Center Methodist Church. Her faith was the cornerstone of her existence, and she served her church community with unwavering dedication.

Traveling was one of Juanita's greatest pleasures, and she often reminisced about the adventures she had with her friends. Whether it was a road trip or a cruise, Juanita embraced each journey with enthusiasm and a sense of wonder. Her stories of travel brought laughter and inspiration to those around her, encouraging others to explore the world with the same zest she had.

A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Monday, July 7, 2025 at Center Methodist Church.  She will lie in state at the church from 1pm-2pm.  The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall.
