Judy Petty Everette Turner, 81, passed away on March 22, 2024, in Myrtle Beach , South Carolina. She was born on December 22,1942, in Burlington, North Carolina. Judy dedicated 40 years of her life to the profession of nursing. She was a graduate of Walter Williams High School in Burlington and Watts Hospital School of Nursing in Durham.
She is survived by her son , Kirk Everette ,as well as her cousins and many life-long friends. Judy was preceded in death by her husband , Charles Turner ; her mother, Kathleen Petty and her father, Frank Petty.
Judy had a passion for nursing and focused her career in perioperative services. She never lost her interest in the operating room and was employed in several hospitals, in Burlington and Greensboro, as a registered nurse. She was a natural caregiver for her family, providing care to her parents, as well as her late husband, Charles, in their homes. She enjoyed spending her free time at the beach. Judy loved the ocean, living the past 10 years at Myrtle Beach. She voiced her wish, to have her ashes scattered, in the sea, to honor her connection to the water. She found the sea to be a symbol of relaxation and rejuvenation,a place to reconnect with her thoughts and feelings,to think about her past ,to reflect on her present and to hope for the future.
A memorial service, in her honor, will be held at McClure Funeral Home in Graham , NC, on Thursday,May 30 at 3:30pm. In lieu of flowers , the family kindly requests donations to the Grand Strand Humane Society as she had a special love for dogs and cats.
Judy found solace and community at Peoples Church in Elon, NC where she attended services. McClure Funeral Home is assisting the family with final arrangements.
