Lois Rudd, 81, of Deep Creek Church Road passed into eternal rest surrounded by her family in her home on Saturday, September 12th, 2015. She valiantly lived with Parkinson's Disease for 15 years. She was a native of Prospect Hill (Caswell County) where she attended Prospect Hill High School and later Burlington Business College after moving to Burlington in 1957. Lois had a 38 year career in banking, being employed at Wachovia Bank, Nations Bank, and Bank of America where she found joy in working with customers and her many co-worker friends. Lois was the wife of her devoted and beloved husband, Walter Franklin Rudd, for 65 years, and the daughter of her parents, Asa Conally Long, Sr. and Louise Hightower Long. She was also preceded in death by her dear brother, A.C. Long, Jr., her special brother-in-law, Wallace Huffman Owen, and her son-in-law, Larry Grinstead Davis.Lois was a lifelong member of Bethel United Methodist Church and an active member in the United Methodist Women of St. Paul's Methodist Church where she was presented a life membership pin in 1979. She served in many church capacities, among them being a youth fellowship leader, Sunday School teacher, Board of Trustees committee member, and various other committees. She served as Bethel's treasurer for almost 40 years and volunteered with the Burlington Retiree Chapter of Duke Energy.She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Rudd Davis of Roxboro, and two sons, Barry Franklin Rudd (Susan) of Wilmington, and Kyle Long Rudd of Raleigh, three grandsons, Asa Zane Davis (Nicolette) of Raleigh, Tyler Rudd Davis of Roxboro, and Bradner Franklin Rudd of Wilmington, one great-granddaughter, Alena Laree Davis of Raleigh, one dear sister, Mabel Long Owen of Gibsonville, two sisters-in-law, Betty Lou Long of Prospect Hill, and Mae Belle Wilburn of Burlington, her special cousin, Frances Marston of Prospect Hill, and numerous loving nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.We are grateful for the life, love, and witness of Lois, known best as Mama Lois or Aunt Lois by those who adored her. We praise God for her dedication to her Lord, her Church, and her family. May the joy of her spirit be with us forever.The funeral will be conducted on Tuesday at 1:00 PM at Bethel United Methodist Church by Rev. Bob Way, Rev. Jeffery Tallent, and Pastor Joe Jackson. Burial will follow in Cooper Cemetery in Prospect Hill. The family will receive visitors afterwards at the church and at the home during other times.
