Kathryn Freeland Tucker

Whether you called her Kathryn, Kathy, or KT you knew you were in the presence of a true lady with a kind heart, bright smile, and a sweet Spirit who loved to laugh.

Kathy was a secretary at Elon Elementary School prior to her career as a Broker/Realtor. She loved the beach, sports, bluebirds, peonies, and banana pudding, but most of all she cherished being with her friends and family. She never missed an opportunity to brag about those she loved, especially her children and grandchildren. Even to strangers and the utter embarrassment of her kids and grandkids, she wanted everyone to know how proud she was of them.

Her career and hobbies in life pale in comparison to her most important work of loving her children, providing them with a happy life and a safe and loving home to grow up in. She loved them fiercely until her last breath, though her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren of whom she loved with her whole heart.

She was Mom to Kimberly Tucker-Bowman (Nathan) and Byron Seth Tucker (Ashley), Grandma Kat to Sian Bowman, and Mimi to her “Tucker Grandbabies” Sr. Maria Cabrinini, CMD, Bryson, Anastyn, Finnley, Macon, Gabriel, Therese, Mary Margaret, and Theodore. Other survivors include sister, Judy Farrar (Mervin) and sister-in-law, Mary Loerke Freeland, as well as her very special nieces and nephews and dear friends.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents Thomas Jackson Freeland, Sr., and Vera Sykes Freeland, brother Thomas Jackson Freeland, Jr., and her “Mom”/ best friend, Doris Adams Tucker.

An informal celebration of life will be held on Sunday August 31, 2025 at the Beth Schmidt Park Community Center located at  2150 Elon Park Drive Elon, NC 27244 from 3:00 until 4:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Authoracare Hospice or perhaps give a big hug to a loved one, offer a listening ear, a gentle smile, or watch the bluebirds fly about in her memory.
