Kenneth “Bruce” Parker

Kenneth Bruce “Bruce” Parker, 73, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025, in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Born on September 28, 1951, in High Point, North Carolina, Bruce was the beloved son of the late Kenneth and Vivian Parker. He spent his life in North Carolina, where he found joy in simple pleasures and meaningful connections with those around him.

Bruce was known for his ever-present happiness and the delight he took in receiving mail. His enthusiasm for life was evident in the many activities he loved. He participated regularly in the Special Olympics, where he embraced both the spirit of competition and camaraderie. He also enjoyed attending dances sponsored by ARC and looked forward to the Happiness Retreat each year—events that brought him great joy and allowed him to connect with friends old and new.

He found purpose and fulfillment working at the sheltered workshop, where he valued being part of a community. Bruce cherished time spent with his friends and thrived in environments that celebrated inclusion and togetherness.

Bruce is survived by his brothers, Jonathan Parker (Kristi) and David Parker (Debbie); his nephewsTy Parker (McKenna) and Jeff Parker (Spencer) and his nieces Sara Beth Parker and Jennifer Harrington (Michael). His warmth and joyful spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Vivian Parker.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ARC of Alamance Co.(PO Box 1275, Burlington, NC 27216) or to Friends of Happiness (℅ Eric Vernon, 603 Carthage St, Suite 210, Sanford, NC 27430) in Bruce’s memory—a fitting tribute to a life filled with joy, friendship, and community.

May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him. A Celebration of Life will be held on August 16, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at McClure Funeral Service 1030 S. Main Street, Graham, with Brian Caldwell officiating. The family will receive visitors at the home of his brother, Jon Parker, 152 Huffine St, Gibsonville, NC, starting on Thursday afternoon. Visitation will be at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m.immediately preceding the service.
