Mr. Kim Dixon Crutchfield, 64, passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at McLeod Seacoast Hospital. Born in Burlington, NC, he grew up in Saxapahaw, NC, and he was the oldest son of the late Van “Doe” Crutchfield and Margaret Dixon Crutchfield. He is survived by his younger brother, Todd Crutchfield.
Kim was a graduate of West Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte, NC where he was a trumpet player in the high school band. He received his bachelor’s degree in 1979 from Averett College in Danville, VA. Following college, Kim moved to Atlanta, GA where he counseled troubled teens for ten years. He was also in the insurance business before joining Home Depot. Kim moved to North Carolina where he began working with Lowe’s and after many years he found his home in South Carolina where he retired in 2013.
A sports enthusiast, Kim was a North Carolina Tar Heels fan as well as a fan of the Seattle Seahawks. He was also a proud supporter of the Atlanta Braves and while living in Atlanta, he would attend many baseball games. Kim enjoyed music, especially Southern Rock and was a fan of the Allman Brothers. He was tech savvy and very well knowledge in trivia. Kim could be described as a “Trivia Godfather” because of the wealth of knowledge shown while playing. Most importantly, Kim was a great brother and friend. He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday March 16, 2022 at the Moore's Chapel Cemetery Gazebo with the Pastor Darryl Peebles officiating.
