Kina Evelyn Watkins Blackwell, 89, of Burlington, NC departed this world peacefully on June 2nd, 2024 at the Hospice Home of Burlington.  She was a native of Columbus Co., N.C., born to the late John and Mattie Watkins.  She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all.  Kina was a devout Prayer Warrior and longtime member of Wicker Street Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School for youngest through their teenage years. She sewed choir robes, jackets, and angel costumes for numerous church programs, in which she also took part.  Being an excellent seamstress, she made clothes for family and friends for all occasions. Kina enjoyed multiple hobbies including, reading, painting, crocheting, flower gardening, and jewelry making.

Kina was preceded in death by husband Ralph, and son Kenneth Blackwell. Her parents John Mack and Mattie Nobles Watkins, sisters Faye Gerringer, Pearl Melvin, Pauline Watkins, brothers Mack Watkins, Fredrick Watkins, Graham Watkins, Bill Watkins, Don Watkins, John Jr. Watkins.

Survivors include daughters, Gale McCall (Pete), Pat Adkins (James), and Kathy Goodwin (Ron). Her grandchildren include Chad McCall (Sandi), Katrina Knighten (Jason), Kenneth Blackwell, Sabrina Fontana (Johnny), and Jamie Adkins (Brandi). Kina was blessed with eleven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She is survived by sisters Linda (Roger) Hall, and Lenora (James) Hall; sister in laws Elaine Watkins and Sylvia Watkins and her many loving nieces and nephews.
