Lanny "Butch" Ray Ireland

Mr. Lanny “Butch” Ray Ireland, 76 of 2977 Wagoner Lane passed away February 11th, 2022, at Alamance Regional Medical Center. Lanny was born on October 1st, 1945, at Duke Hospital in Durham as a son to the late John Hugh Ireland and Anna Belle Collins Ireland. Lanny is a member of Riverside Baptist Church, being baptized August 27th, 2006. He served in the United States Navy during Vietnam in aviation ordinance on the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Independence. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 1920.

In addition to his parents, Lanny was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Mr. Ireland is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marie Strickland Ireland, a son, Darrell Ray Ireland, a daughter, Sherry Ireland Johnson (Tony), one sister, Lavana Thomas (Jim), three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at Riverside Baptist Church on Wednesday, February 16th, 2022, beginning at 2:00PM, with Reverend Bob Stephenson officiating. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service for the family to receive friends and will be available at other times at their residence. Burial will follow the services at Graham Memorial Park.
